On September 2nd 2018, Norwegian Broadcasting website at nrk.no published a new article with what might be the very final images of our beloved King: Kong Olav.
Even though seeing these images will immediately evoke utter sadness, I personally also find this article very comforting because she will no longer linger in an unknown state until imploding on herself. She had a couple of long, and very painful last decades afloat. Till this day, this was perhaps one of the most beautiful vessels of her time, and there will be none built like her in the future.
That being said, we have to be very happy and satisfied that many of her fleet-mates have survived in active roles till this day. It’s now our responsibility to surrender our support to those, as in using their services and making sure they remain profitable for their current owners.
