Goodbye to a giant

Some people may remember some of my images of a Kalitta Air Boeing 747 Cargo taken at Trondheim Airport Værnes back on August 14th 2015 (previous bLOG entry). That exact Boeing 747 - N793CK - will most likely never come back to Trondheim again, as it was withdrawn from use on April 21st 2017 and put in storage at Oscada-Wurtsmith Airport (OSC) in Iosco County, Michigan, USA. The little more than 30 year old aircraft started it’s life with it’s first flight on March 1st 1987, and was operated by United Airlines from March 19th 1987. 13 years later, the aircraft was converted to cargo configuration and painted in Northwest Airlines colors. Further 8 years down it’s service life, on October 29th 2008, she started flying under the house flag of Delta Airlines for little less than 3 months. After being stored for a little more than 20 months, she finally arrived at her last owners: Kalitta Air. She flew all across the world with Kalitta from September 26th 2010 and until being sent into retirement on April 21st 2017.

The Kalitta Air that I observed at Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) Airport on January 17th 2017 (bLOG entry here), is however still in service.
