The 2017 cruise season finale

On December 31st 2017, the last cruise ship of the 2017 cruise season at Trondheim, Norway, came to town. The venerable Black Watch of Fred Olsen Cruise Line arrived just before 8 in the morning, and set sail again at the stroke of midnight - giving all her guests and crew a spectacular firework show from Kristiansten Fortress. The extra special this year was the abnormally, clear weather and the 99,6% full moon (full moon at 02:43 on January 2nd 2018).†

In freezing temperatures well below zero, and after a long day-watch at work, I went out of my way to literally freeze my fingers off. By the time I had captured these images, my fingers were absolutely deep frozen - I could hardly remove my fingers off the remote control.†

But, after all, I’m really glad I took the time to do these shots - based on previous tests, I was initially thinking that the Mavic’s camera would not capture night shotslike this too well. Thankfully, these actually turned out satisfactorily - at least for me.†
