The 2014 Summer Escape to the western coast

At CaptainsVoyage Forum I started a thread in autumn last year, containing my images from the summer escape to the western coast. The first day of the summer holiday started in Kristiansund in what can only be described as picture perfect summer weather.

I had for almost as long as I can rememeber, wanted to go out to GRIP, a very small community about 12 kilometers from the mainland. This small community is a collection of really old, but well-maintained buildings, on a tiny rock called Gripsholmen, or just Grip, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. There have been people living out here since 1100’s, and from 1897 to 1964, Grip island was it’s own municipality with their own mayor. The smallest municipality in Norway, both in number of inhabitants and area. In 1964, the island was included in the municipality of Kristiansund town. The island was abandoned as an all-around place to live in 1974, but the 47 houses out there is well maintained and kept today as holiday homes.

In the thread at CaptainsVoyage Forum, which is now two pages long, I have now shared all the images from this very beautiful and charming place. To see all the images SO FAR, you will have to visit CaptainsVoyage Forum.
